Where To Find The Best Small Business Advice
There seems to be a large push in our country for people to leave corporate America and move into smaller companies. People are tired of hearing about corporate leaders earning millions of dollars in salaries and bonuses when they are struggling to make ends meet. Workers are also tired of fearing that their position could be eliminated at any time. Most companies treat their employees as if they are commodities that are easily replaced.
Due to this lack of trust of large corporations many people are trying to start businesses of their own, or to join smaller companies. In working for a smaller operation the employee does not feel that they are just a number, but are a contributing factor to the business. There are so many things to consider when trying to start a company. Fortunately there are many avenues that provide small business advice. I have found that the best resource for me was my area chamber of commerce. The chamber members were very willing to give me small business advice as I was starting out. They were able to help me focus on the tasks that needed to be done immediately and to prioritize the things that could wait until I was more established. Getting this small business advice from the other business owners in the area was very helpful. I had read information however getting the help of others that know the community we live in and the people we serve is much more valuable.
I found that I was given a great deal of help in starting my business because I was not competing with any of the other established businesses. The other business owners recognized that my store would help keep people shopping in our smaller community rather than going to the larger city. This would help their business as well as grow mine. I did notice that the small business advice was less forth coming to new businesses that owners recognized as competition. As with all things you need to have a basic understanding of what you want to accomplish. You do learn things as you go, but you need to have a core of knowledge from the start to have a better chance at success. I have found that if I rely on small business advice from one person or source, I am limiting what I can accomplish with my business. I am seeking out small business advice from a variety of sources to improve my chances of success.
